
Founding Partner
Phil Reeves is a Founding Partner at Apis & Heritage Capital Partners, a role he has held since the firm’s founding in 2020. Based in Washington, DC, Phil serves as a permanent member of the investment committee and oversees all aspects of the firm’s investment activities, including leading its debt capital raises. Apis & Heritage uses employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs) as an exit strategy for middle market business owners, with a mission of closing the racial wealth gap and building wealth for working people.
Prior to co-founding Apis & Heritage, Phil spent the majority of his career working with small and medium-sized businesses. He served as a Principal at Mercantile Strategies, a boutique advisory firm focused on strategy, capital raising, and M&A for SME founders. Before that, he was a Principal at 1863 Ventures, an accelerator program focused on growing minority and women-owned businesses, and served as Manager of Small Business Technology and Innovation for the DC Department of Small and Local Business Development. Phil began his career as an Analyst in the private equity division at Lehman Brothers.
Phil is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Morehouse College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Finance.
